Aging is the new Awesome or how I became one of the new Beverly Hills Science projects.

Growing up, we have all been sold the notion that you retire at 65. That you reach this point and its the end of the journey. That magical time when life becomes the result of our choices. Nothing could be farther from the truth. So in the beginning you start with....

A legend in the fashion industry, one of many examples that we didn't find our way in design, it found us!

The refusal that you don't have to live your life the way it is neatly packaged that you live a certain age, retire and then the end.

The first lesson, we need to leave behind is the word retire.. It means to end. So, for some of us that means to end. But we decided on a different number. Infinity!!

One of the earliest lessons that moved me quickly into the whose who ranks and circles was the lesson, "Be true to yourself". Correct!, being who you are, happy in your own skin, not caring about the opinions and judgements of others, being who you as a person sets you free.

You live your own way under your own terms and you charge thru it all, not looking back.

You look and live your life forever forward! You don't have to wait for permission to create this or write that. You just do it! There are no mistakes in trying. The failure comes in not taking that step. Not trying that because of fear.

I digress to the lesson of Edison(inventor of the light bulb) after over a 1000 attempts, it finally happened. But while that was happening along the way he left us with: The vote recorder(first tracking of the votes), the motion picture and the beginning of filming and the phonograph. These were just a few that actually made it the patent office.

This is not meant to be a history lesson but just an example of how someone that doesnt accept what we are told, but does what they want becomes the mentor. That age doesnt define us, we define it.

As I have gotten older, I lost that notion of graceful aging. There is nothing graceful about it. Its a constant monitoring of diet, weight and exercise. A constant focus on positive and happiness. It has been proven to me over and over not just what we eat, but what we think ends up on her faces, our bodies. It breaks you down if you let it. But the flip side. we become more beautiful , more timely and some cases iconic if we embrace our own happiness.

It takes guts to be you! So the question is simple. Do you want to live beautifully, and long as possible? Or do you want to fade back into the scenery and instead of a glass half full, you become half empty?

Here are some of the legends that shape and continue to assist in my movement forward. My campaign for living!

Age ranges from late fifties to upwards 80's. Just a number because we have lived those years. And by the looks of them, they lived well, not boxed into their own worlds. Still active, still teaching, still being themselves. It's a great feeling to not worry about age. To not think of the end, but to redirect and think how much can I do this moment.

When someone made the statement to age beautifully. This is what we meant. The choice is yours. You own it. But take it from someone that is only 63 and looking forward to the next 20 years and the next. Lets make it beautiful. Cheers!!!

And I could not end this blog segment without the icons that make me dance and sing my way into the future. The never ending billboard success of these icons

My Leo sister Madonna. We share the same birthday only separated by 5 years... So I leave it to her Hit it!!!!
