Haute Couture!! Work it! Own It!

From as long as remembered, I have been involved in fashion from my early days in the Runway and Trunk shows doing the models Hair and Makeup to my very close friendships with some very established designers through the years.

We all started in our early twenties, creating and brain storming new looks, fabrics, colors and just being plain fierce.

When living in Paris, I met some incredibly inspiring designers that were so over the top, so amazing and just plain brilliant.

We started a bond that we have kept over the years and to this day we still keep in touch. When I met them, they were working for some of the major department stores and we would have coffee and discuss this look or that trend. Now when I see them we meet at their design houses and I can assure its still over coffee, still trends, color and statements of inspiration, but now we end with wine and champagne.

Not held back by anyone telling us not to do that or how hard it is to get established and noticed. Much less the dream of fashion week was not how we were going to get there, but when are we going?

And so we went!!!

The Men

One of the largest lessons learned from my designers is that it is evolving, changing and never ending. A very different world.

On going moment to moment discussions, colors or inspired by the early morning rains or doing an entire collection based on that or the color announcement from the National Color Board that this years color is Red.

My friends are always drawing and creating clothing that makes bold statements, invokes strong reactions or lights the passion in you visualizing wearing that very outfit.

Haute Couture is the beginning of the trends and sets the tone for clothing for the entire year which translated into ready to wear or off the rack clothing that we see in department stores for the next two to three years.

Fashion can intimidate easily.

It is attitude.!

it is the the simple feeling of wearing that suit and how you feel about yourself.

Being complimented for that color or those shoes or the reverse of making comments about the choices made to wear that in public. Mon Dieu!!

Clothing reflects so many things about us in so many ways. The ones that say they don't care about it use that excuse because they really do.

The ones confident enough to set their own trends and bold choices. The outfit no one forgets!!

There is no right or wrong. It is a personal choice. So why not try something new that might just look amazing. Wear that suit that makes you win that interview or next job. The shirt that makes your feel ready to meet your partner, or simply beautiful.
